68. Report - Farewell to India soon

At Beniwalsar I have to turn off the national road onto a route
that leads to the Pakistani border. The street is pleasantly quiet. There won't be many places before the border, I'll probably have to walk a lot more kilometers in the next few days to find places where I can stay overnight.

But on the contrary: my feet are slowing down. The street is suddenly too quiet for me and somehow I don't want to walk it: Ahead of me is the farewell to the wonderful, "holy" country of India. It hurts me inside to cross the border soon. But this pain is normal, even healthy. I just have to allow it properly and look at it bravely on the inside.

The people in this lonelier border region are even friendlier. Most notable after two days is a young man on his bike. The first evenning he stops next to me and offers to help. Yes, he can offer me a place to sleep in closed room. It's cold at night now; the day/night temperature difference is over 20 degrees.

As it happens, I won't sleep with the moped driver, but with friends of his.

But the next day he surprises me several times: After an hour of walking, he comes with a friend on a moped and brings me tea. - After another hour they come back and bring water because it is still hot at noon. I ask for his blessing. There won't be many people left in India who will put their hands on my head.
