71. Report - I am not looking forward to my country

During the conversation with the Super-Intendent of the police, I said that I was by no means looking forward to the early return to Germany. I am observing a great decline in values ​​in society, caused by the media and global financial organizations, which are having an ever greater influence on social developments. - The policeman listens to this calmly. He amazes me when he smiles. He adds that this problem also started in India.

 

But the nice conversation doesn't help - I have to go back to Germany. I'm only half looking forward to my friends because during the Corona pandemic I observed how much anxiety exists in the minds of many people, including my friends. Someone said about the Corona crisis that the Covid-19 virus is a natural problem. But people's fear - that's the bigger problem.

 

German newspaper: information or scaremongering?

In October 2020 I was sitting at Bangalore Airport with my boarding cards. An hour before departure I had decided not to fly. I got scared. But not from Corona, but from the people in my country.

At that time some of my friends were too worried case I came to visit them or some of their relative. During the pandemic, they heard such terrible news about India*1 - some worried that meeting me could pose a major health risk to them and the people at their workplace.

 

Are my friends still afraid of my visit?

*1 During the pandemic, there was a time when the number of people who died from/with Corona in India was almost exactly 10 times as high as in Germany. A terribly high number. But the media didn't report that the population of India is 16.5 times larger than that of Germany. So the situation in India was much better than with my friends.

1. Report - 5/11/21 - Departure in Bodhi Zendo

It hurts inside to walk away from the Bodhi Zendo. The 6 months of Zen practice have helped me advance internally. There is some risk in leaving the regular daily business of meditation. I dare to compare it with a child in the womb: Why leave this wonderful, warm, filling, sheltered place after nine months to risk an unknown existence ?! It is also an inconvenient time to leave because of the rainy season. I postpone my departure twice because the laundry won't dry on the line. And enriching conversations with other meditators arise every day. But now the next step has to take place. A Sesshin begins on Thursday evening for three days. I no longer take part in the meetings, try to be inconspicuous and feel "wrong" in my place. On Friday morning there were still two damp clothes hanging on the line. 28. Report - 2 - 7/12/21 - First days in Kerala - HERE & NOW

The landscape of Kerala is very beautiful. I walk on picturesque streets. Many wind their way through small palm forests and through beautifully landscaped rice fields. Diverse views are offered to the eye. The monsoon is coming to an end - it hardly rains any more. At a great rock lake, I risk spending a night without a canopy. After a few hours it promptly begins to rain. The bags are protected under the large umbrella; I wrap myself and the mats in a large plastic sheet. The next morning the sun is shining. Occasionally men come to the lake, jump into the water, soap themselves on the bank, jump back into the water. There are many ponds here. Every day you see people washing clothes or soaping themselves up there. I also refresh then myself for a few minutes.
